One of my artistic heroes, Josef Albers, used to insist that in art, one plus one can equal three or more. That was in the back of my mind a few months ago when my neighbor Arc Ceramics and I were sipping on some wine, looking at her brilliant pottery, sifting through my fish paintings and we had a pretty obvious idea: Hey what if we… ?

Since then we’ve taken this collaboration step-by-step. She makes a piece. I test out some glazes. She somehow trusts me to paint something on a plate. I paint about three times as many fish as I thought I would. (I get excited!) She fires it in her magical kiln. WOW. And repeat.
